IMC plans to establish Rs 120 crore carcass processing plant

Infrastructure  -  Jan 05,2024  -

Under the Union government's City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain (CITIIS) 2.0, the Indore Municipal Corporation has prepared a proposal of around Rs 120 crore to set up a plant to process cattle carcasses.

According to senior IMC officials, CITIIS 2.0 programme envisages to support competitively selected projects promoting circular economy with focus on integrated waste management at the city level, climate-oriented reform actions at the state level, and institutional
strengthening at a National level.

"Under this programme, we have prepared a proposal of around Rs 120 crore of some projects including setting up a plant to process cattle carcasses" IMC additional commissioner Siddhartha Jain said, adding that IMC had some years ago initiated the process to setup cattle carcass processing plant, but the same couldn't be started due to some reasons.

"Currently, Indore produces around 30 tonnes of carcasses daily that will be processed through the proposed plant," he said.

“The proposal is almost ready and it is expected to take the next couple of weeks to submit the same," he said.
