GEF to invest Rs 600 crore in multiple oil refineries outside Hyderabad

Gemini Edibles & Fats India Ltd, a producer of edible oils, is spending Rs 600 crore to build an oil seed crushing facility and multiple oil refineries outside of Hyderabad.

The company has already been allocated 33 acres of land for the project near Kothur by the Telangana government for the project that would be completed in two phases, GEF India vice president of sales & marketing P Chandra Shekhara Reddy said.

"By December 2023, we hope to take ownership of the property, and by the first quarter of 2024, construction on the facility will have begun. Construction will take two years to complete, and production is anticipated to start in 2025 or 2026, according to Reddy.

According to him, while Rs 400 crore will be invested in the multi-oil refinery, which will come up as part of the first phase of the project, the crushing unit will see an investment of around Rs 200 crore and will come up in the second phase.
