Gautam Adani all set to go solo on hydrogen mega-project

Power Generation  -  Aug 21,2023  -

Gautam Adani has stated his willingness to independently invest enormous sums of money in India's green hydrogen development. This choice was made when TotalEnergies SE decided to delay its plans to join the initiative as a partner.

The French energy business had initially agreed to pay an unknown sum for a 25% interest in Adani New Industries. This action was taken in an effort to support green hydrogen projects in India, the third-largest polluter in the world, which aimed to lower carbon emissions.

However, Total suspended its investment in February due to allegations of fraud against the Adani Group made by a short seller. The conglomerate denied these charges.

Adani's initial foray into green hydrogen involves a $5 billion integrated facility. This facility will encompass manufacturing units for wind turbines and solar panels, as well as renewable energy generation capacity.

The project serves as a starting point for the group's larger plan, which involves investing over $50 billion by the end of the decade to advance the development of this fuel.
