GAIL has inaugurated its first 10 MW Green Hydrogen Plant under the National Green Hydrogen Mission in Madhya Pradesh's Vijaipur, it said in an exchange filing.
The Green Hydrogen Plant has a capacity of producing 4.3 Tonnes Per Day (TPD) of Hydrogen through its Electrolyzer units, by electrolysis of water, using renewable power. According to the company, the Hydrogen produced from this plant will have a purity of 99.99%, and will be produced at a pressure of 30 Kg per square centimeter.
For the initial phase, the hydrogen produced from this unit will be used as fuel, along with natural gas for captive purposes in the various processes and equipment running at GAIL's Vijaipur plant, post which, it is planned to dispatch the Hydrogen to retail customers in nearby geographies, through high pressure cascades.
GAIL is also setting up 20 MW Solar power plants at Vijaipur to meet the requirement of green power for the electrolyzer, which will be used in the Green Hydrogen production. The company also aims to source renewable power through open access.
For the March quarter, GAIL reported a 5.6% drop in its revenue to ₹32,317 crore, while net profit fell more than 23% due to lower revenue and weaker-than-expected performance in the gas marketing segment.
