Damson Technologies to shift 50% production from China to India

Automotive Industries  -  Apr 12,2024  -

Damson Technologies, a lifestyle and mobile accessories manufacturer, intends to shift fifty percent of its production from China to India, with an initial investment of Rs 150 crore in the current fiscal year. Ritesh Goenka, the Managing Director, stated that this move is prompted by sanctions on China and the favorable incentives provided by Indian government schemes.

With current revenues exceeding Rs 1,000 crore, Damson plans to bring around Rs 500 crore worth of business to India in the upcoming year. Their long-term vision includes gradually relocating their entire factory operations to India, necessitating time to establish the necessary infrastructure.

Damson also markets mobile accessories and lifestyle gadgets under its own brand name, "Just Corseca".

Citing the tariffs imposed on Chinese exports, Goenka highlighted the competitive advantage of exporting from India to countries like the US, where duties are lower.

The company is establishing a manufacturing plant near Ahmedabad, investing Rs 50 crore in the unit and an additional Rs 100 crore in marketing, research and development, and building a workforce of approximately 350 employees.
