Coastal Corporation (CCL) has announced the progress regarding the construction and commissioning of the ethanol project by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Coastal Biotech.

The construction of the ethanol plant, with a production capacity of 198 KLPD, is in its final stages of completion. The trial run for the plant is scheduled to commence in February 2025.

Coastal Biotech's ethanol manufacturing plant is located in Odisha.

Incorporated in 1981, Coastal Corporation Ltd is engaged in the processing and export of seafood.

The Government has been promoting blending of ethanol in petrol under the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme wherein Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) sell ethanol blended with petrol.

As part of its commitment to achieving a 20% ethanol blending target by 2025, India requires around 1,350 crore litres of ethanol for both blending and industrial uses.
