A consultant has been hired by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) to draft a detailed development plan (DDP) for the growth corridor along the Chennai Outer Ring Road (CORR).

As part of the development plan, locations for public amenities, industrial, commercial, and residential usage, as well as regions for grid road formation, will be marked.

The Chief Minister views CORR as a high-growth corridor that will draw business, industry, and residential activity while easing traffic in the central city, as CMDA Minister P.K. Sekar Babu pointed out.

The consultant, Rudrabhishek Enterprises Ltd., will focus on transit-oriented development (TOD) for the 25 sq. km. corridor, incorporating multiple transportation facilities to address congestion and support economic development. The initiative aims to upgrade existing systems and enhance urban planning for sustainable growth.
