Carborundum teams up with ideaForge to develop nanomaterial reinforced products

Infrastructure  -  Aug 21,2023  -

In order to create goods that would make drones lighter, stronger, and more durable, drone manufacturer IdeaForge Technology and Carborundum Universal Ltd, a company that makes abrasives and industrial ceramics, have teamed up.

According to a joint press statement, the two businesses will create the drones using advanced nanomaterial reinforced composite parts, which have the potential to change structural components for aerospace applications.

The 'nanomaterial composite materials' offer several improvements over standard composite materials, including higher mechanical strength, greater toughness, and better electrical and thermal conductivity, it added.

"The use of nanomaterial reinforced composites in drones offer several exciting possibilities such as higher specific modulus or strength and is likely to shape the future of airframe and related structural components of drones," IdeaForge Technology Senior Director of Engineering Sunil Jha said.
