AMC invites bids for waste-to-energy and waste-to-organic fertiliser plants

Infrastructure  -  Jul 05,2024  -

Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) plans to utilize waste-to-energy and organic fertiliser generation technologies across 25 sites in Ahmedabad.

AMC has invited bids for the decentralised processing of solid biodegradable waste, generated from various vegetable markets, fruit markets, and bulk waste generators.

The initiative aims to implement biogas and/or organic fertilizer generation technologies under a Build, Own, and Operate (Boo) model for a period of 3 years, in compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016.

AMC official informed that – ‘Composting machines will be installed at sites generating less than 500 kg of waste per day, while biogas plants will manage sites producing 500 kg or more daily.’ AMC may enlist a Project Management Consultant (PMC) or Third Party Inspection (TPI) agency for oversight.

The initiative will ensure efficient waste processing by reducing inert waste to less than 15%, and by marketing all recyclable products within 30 days of production.

Adequate greenery will also be planted to mitigate environmental impacts such as noise and air pollution from the facility.
