Vizag station to be revamped at a cost of Rs 393 crore

A request for proposals (RFP) has been issued by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) for a significant upgrade of the Visakhapatnam train station.

An estimated 393 crore will be spent on the station’s redevelopment using the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) methodology.

Providing passengers with cutting-edge amenities and improving their travel experience are the station’s main goals.

The filing date for bids is August 12. The winning bidder must finish the project in three years.

The rebuilt station will reportedly have skywalks that are universally accessible, allowing for smooth passenger circulation.

A roof plaza with a shared waiting space will be built above the platforms, linking the train station’s departure halls.

Commercial space will be developed over the multi-level car parking area.

The station will have an internet of things-based smart parking management system.
