In Karnataka, Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd (VSIL) would invest Rs 250 crore to build a new ethanol facility.
VSIL now has a sugarcane crushing capacity of 11,000 tonnes per day, a distillery capacity of 1 lakh litres per day, a 36.4 MW co-generation capacity, and a vinegar production capacity of 70,000 litres per day.
VSIL said in a statement that it wants to build a greenfield ethanol plant with a capacity of 2.5 lakh litres per day within 80 kilometres of its present factory in the Belagavi area.
The corporation has already purchased 110 acres of land for the factory, according to the company.
