After operating in India for more than ten years, the US-based manufacturer of solar modules, First Solar, is building a production plant at Sriperumbudur near Chennai.
According to Business Line, First Solar is spending $684 million, of which 70% has already been invested, to build 3.5 GW of thin film modules in India, with funding from the government of India’s Production Linked Incentive programme (PLI-2).
The manufacturing facility is almost ready to start producing, and the first shipments are anticipated in October.
