Under the production-linked incentive (PLI) plan for autos, the Union government has included more than 100 modern technologies, including alternative fuel systems like compressed natural gas (CNG).
The scheme will also include Bharat Stage VI compliant flex fuel engines, electronic control units (ECU) for safety, advanced driver aid systems, and e-quadricyles, among other things.
The administration has only included two-wheelers and four-wheelers in the scheme so far.
The programme intends to improve the automotive industry’s production capabilities, particularly electric and hydrogen fuel cell automobiles.
