Despite delays, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail (MAHSR) project is moving forward. According to officials, two companies have submitted bids to build the 21-kilometer-long tunnel on the rail route.
Technical bids for MAHSR Package C-2, which includes the construction of a 21-kilometer tunnel, 7 kilometres of which will be under the sea, were opened on Thursday, according to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the project’s nodal agency.
The 7-kilometer project will be India’s first undersea tunnel.
NHSRCL spokesperson Sushma Gaur stated that bids have been submitted by Afcons Infrastructure Limited and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited.
