The only two companies to submit pre-qualification applications for the building of a new 12.2 km bridge linking Palashbari and Sualkuchi in Assam were Larsen & Toubro and SP Singla Constructions Pvt. Ltd. on Monday.
The Public Works Road Department (PWRD) of Assam will construct this four-lane extradosed PSC bridge over the Brahmaputra river, just west of Guwahati.
On April 14, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed the project’s foundation stone. The project is expected to cost a total of Rs. 3197.20 crore. The New Development Bank (NDB), which granted a USD 300 million loan in July 2019, will pay for 80% of its cost.
PWRD invited pre-qualification applications in March 2023 with a Rs. 2600 crore estimate for the bridge, approach roads and other miscellaneous civil construction work.
