In Navi Mumbai, India, Lumina CloudInfra has started construction on a data centre.
The business revealed that construction had begun on a new campus for hyperscale data centres in the state of Maharashtra.
Last year, Blackstone unveiled Lumina CloudInfra as the investment company’s Asian data centre platform, with 600MW worth of planned projects in India. When the company announced it had two projects already in the works in Mumbai and Chennai, it was said to have $25 billion available.
According to recent rumours in the local news, Lumina, which is owned and operated by Blackstone’s Real Estate and Tactical Opportunities funds, will spend more than $300 million building its first campus in the Airoli neighbourhood of Navi Mumbai.
Spanning 6.3 acres, the Airoli site will have a capacity of over 60MW across two phases. The first phase is reportedly set for a 2025 completion date.
