TN signs MoU to invest Rs 2,250 crore in leather sector

At the Tamil Nadu Footwear and Leather Sector Conclave 2022, Tamil Nadu, India’s top leather exporter, pledged an investment of 2,250 crore in the footwear and leather sector and unveiled an annual policy for the sector.

In the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin, who unveiled the “Tamil Nadu Footwear and Leather Products Policy 2022,” the state government inked five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for the investments.

Five businesses, including KICL SEMS, Wagon International, KICL, Walkaroo, and KICL, have signed MoUs with the government (footwear cluster). By 2025, the action will assist the industry attract 20,000 crore in investment and create 2 lakh jobs.

Along with the launch of the annual policy and signing of MoU, CM laid the foundation stone for a Rs 400 crore mega footwear manufacturing park at Panapakkam, Ranipet.
