Thermo Fisher Scientific inaugurates a new research and development facility in Hyderabad

Thermo Fisher Scientific has opened a new research and development and engineering facility in Hyderabad, joining the ranks of multinationals with global capabilities centres in the city.

Thermo Fisher Scientific, an American provider of scientific apparatus, reagents and consumables, and software services, plans to invest around $15 million in research and development each year (about Rs 112.5 crore). Over 450 engineers and vendor partners would be employed by the company’s India Engineering Centre.

The 42,000-square-foot building contains an engineering lab that will enable new product development for Thermo Fisher’s global sites for laboratory and analytical solutions.

KT Rama Rao, the Minister of Industries and Information Technology, who inaugurated the facility, asked the corporation to consider establishing a manufacturing plant in Telangana as well.
