Cabinet Minister Eknath Shinde has set a target of 15 months for the completion of the critical Satis-2 project, which will significantly reduce traffic congestion outside Thane railway station on the eastern side.
Shinde made the announcement at the project’s ground-breaking ceremony in Thane.
Thane Municipal Corporation and Thane Smart City Ltd are working together to complete the project.
When completed, the project will be the first and longest elevated road connecting a train station in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, according to officials (MMR). Only public transportation buses will be allowed to utilise the almost 2.4-kilometer long, one-way road.
It will run from the Eastern Express Highway in Thane west to the multi-tier deck at Thane railway station in the east before turning around.
