The greenfield petrochemical and refinery complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Barmer district is 60% finished. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Government of Rajasthan each own 74% and 26% of the joint venture firm HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL). The plan was created in 2008, and it received initial approval in 2013. In 2018, a reconfiguration was made, and construction commenced. More than 2.4 million tonnes of petrochemicals will be produced by HRRL from 9 million metric tonnes of crude per year, which will lower petrochemical import costs.
