The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) of Andhra Pradesh has approved the establishment of four pumped storage hydroelectricity projects with a combined capacity of 3,700 MW by the Adani Group with a total investment of $15,376 crore spread over four tranches, starting with an outlay of $1,349 crore in 2022–2023, at a meeting on Wednesday that was presided over by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In the Parvathipuram Manyam district’s Kadapa and Karrivalasa villages, two projects with a combined 1,000 MW capacity will be built. A 500 MW unit will be built in Peddakotla in the Sri Sathya Sai district, while a 1,200 MW plant will be built at Kurukutti in the Parvathipuram Manyam district.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Adani Group had signed a MoU for these green energy projects on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting held at Davos recently.
