The Mumbai Metro’s 23.6 kilometre Line-2B’s overhead electrification (OHE) contract was awarded to Siemens Ltd. and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (Yellow Line).
This elevated route extending south-east from the recently opened 18.6 km Line-2A connects DN Nagar with Mandale (Mankhurd) (Dahisar – DN Nagar). In 2021, J Kumar Infraprojects acquired from Simplex Infrastructure a piece of the construction project between DN Nagar and MTNL.
In November 2022, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) issued a call for bids for the electrification contract (Package CA-40), with a three-year completion target and an estimated cost of Rs. 443.36 crore. The opening of technical bids in January revealed two bidders: Siemens and KEC.
