The Wilmar Group, located in Singapore, owns Shree Renuka Sugars, and plans to finish increasing its ethanol production from 720 klpd to 1,250 klpd in the March quarter.
The company estimates that, excluding the refinery industry, ethanol will account for around 40% of its income.
The demand for ethanol is high, therefore it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the industry diverts 4.5–5 million tonnes (mt) of sugar to make ethanol, according to AtulChaturvedi, Chairman of Shree Renuka Sugars.
