Senbo Engineering and ITD Cementation India were the lowest bids for a 3.6-kilometer underground expansion of Kolkata Metro’s 6.87-kilometer Line-4 from Kolkata Airport (Bimanbandar) to New Barrackpore, which was announced last week.
This underground segment of the 18.13-kilometer Yellow Line would eventually connect Noapara with the Barasat area in north-east Kolkata. No TBMs will be utilised in the building of this line because it will be built utilising the Cut & Cover method.
Its route would mostly follow the land of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBI), with two additional stations at Birati and New Barrackpore.
