West Bengal will soon house a manufacturing facility worth Rs 140 crore from Schneider Electric, a leader in energy management and next-generation automation.
For the company’s second factory in the state, a groundbreaking ceremony was performed during the day at Prospace Industrial Park at Dankuni in the Hooghly district.
The nine-acre facility will be used to speed up the production of goods including vacuum interrupters and power systems vertical, the business said in a statement. Construction is scheduled to be finished by February 2024, and operations are scheduled to start in the second quarter of that year.
In Salt Lake, West Bengal, the first factory opened its doors in 1989.
“The upcoming factory in Kolkata is aimed at accelerating our commitment to ‘Make in India’. We will be investing approximately Rs 140 crore for setting up this new facility which will enable economic development and job creation in the state,” Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd MD & CEO (designate) Deepak Sharma said.
