Samruddhi Mahamarg’s longest tunnel in Maharashtra nearing completion

The longest road tunnel in Maharashtra, between Igatpuri and Kasara, is almost complete.

It was built as a component of the Samruddhi Mahamarg, also known as the Nagpur Mumbai Super Communication Expressway (NMSCE).

To accommodate traffic travelling to and from Nagpur and Mumbai, the tunnel is divided into two tubes, each with three lanes.

The building company Afcons is in charge of the Mumbai-Nagpur expressway project.

The 7.7-km tunnel is the fourth-longest in the country. With an 18-metre width, it is the widest tunnel in India.
