In the union budget presented to parliament, the government of India allocated Rs. 3596 crore to the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project.
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, India’s first, is being built at a rapid pace in various parts of Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. The corridor’s stations, particularly those in the priority section, are taking shape.
At various sites, over 14,000 workers and 1100 engineers are working day and night. So far, 65% of the elevated viaduct and 35% of the underground section (tunnel) of the corridor have been completed.
The priority section of the corridor will be operational this year, and train testing is currently underway.
