A 500 MW renewable energy round-the-clock (RE-RTC) project has been given to NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a division of NTPC Limited, by Railways Energy Management Company Ltd (REMCL).
The project will use a combination of solar and wind power and will provide REMCL with continuous green energy. It was selected following a competitive bidding process for a total of 900 MW RE-RTC.
According to NTPC, a 25-year power purchase agreement will be made with Indian Railways. India wants to have 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022 and 450 GW by 2030. This action is part of that goal.
Earlier this week, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has invited eligible bidders to participate in a Global Competitive Bidding Process for the selection of developers for ISTS Connected Energy Storage Solutions in India.
