At a cost of more than Rs 430 crore, Pune will host the nation’s first solid waste-to-hydrogen facility, an official announced.
The Green Billions Ltd (TGBL), a provider of sustainability solutions, would establish the facility after reaching a 30-year agreement with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
By the end of the following year, 350 tonnes of solid waste will be treated daily, TGBL chairman and founder Prateek Kanakia told PTI.
“Our plan is to produce 10 tonnes of hydrogen daily from 350 tonnes of solid waste. We are setting up the plant at Hadapsar Industrial Estate in Pune. This is the first attempt in India to extract hydrogen from waste,” he added.
