Parliament was informed that private sector investment in road building up to November 2017 fiscal year was Rs 15,164.25 crore.
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari stated in a written reply to the Lok Sabha that private sector investment in road building in 2020-21 and 2019-20 was Rs 12,475.53 crore and Rs 21,925.98 crore, respectively.
Gadkari stated that the evaluation of Model Concession Agreement (MCA) papers for various modalities of road development under PPP (public-private partnership) is a continual process, with revisions made as needed to satisfy stakeholder concerns.
