The four-laning of the road project from Shimla to Mataur, which will cost Rs 10,000 crore, and the four-laning of the road project from Pathankot to Mandi, which will cost Rs 12,000 crore, have received preliminary approval from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), according to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Also, the NHAI would invest Rs 300 crore in a concept paper on how to reduce and prevent the landslides that happen in the state as a result of the expansion of roads.
Apropos to the discussion held with the Union road transport minister, Nitin Gadkari on the development of road infrastructure in the state during his recent visit to Delhi, the chief minister on Thursday took a review meeting with NHAI and discussed the progress made in this direction.
