Prayagraj all set to become cement manufacturing hub

Prayagraj is set to become a major centre for the manufacture of cement. According to informed officials, the area, which already has two cement manufacturing factories, is about to gain three more.

The property has been identified for the three cement plants to be built on by three different private companies in the Shankragarh region, they added.

The district currently operates two such plants. This includes a 6.6 MTPA cement blending facility owned by the Jaypee Group in Sadwa and a 2 MTPA plant owned by Ulta Tech Cement in Bara.

However, JK Cement Ltd. is currently utilising the state government’s initiative to encourage investment in Uttar Pradesh.

“A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the company. The firm will be setting up a clinker grinding unit having a capacity of 2.50 MTPA with an investment of ₹400 crore in the Bara area. The firm is already in the process of purchasing land,” said a senior official of the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA).
