The Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) said that it has approved an investment of Rs 821.3 crore in five transmission projects aimed at improving and expanding the system. In 2023 and 2024, all of the projects will be completed.
The committee gave its permission for investment in the transmission infrastructure beyond Kolhapur for electricity export from solar and wind energy zones in the Southern Region. The project’s projected cost is 129.28 crore, and it is expected to be completed in February 2023.
Similarly, the PSU will upgrade the transmission system between Srinagar and Leh at a cost of Rs 288.71 crore, with the project expected to be completed by December 2024.
PGCIL said in the filing that it will increase transformation capacity in the Southern Region at a cost of 176.22 crore, with the project expected to be completed by March 20, 2023.
At 4001220 kV, the corporation will also increase transformation capacity. Kurukshetra (PG) and Patiala (PG) substations are expected to be completed by February 15, 2023 for ICT at Kurukshetra SIS and by May 20, 2023 for ICT at Patiala SIS, at a cost of 106.99 crore.
“Evacuation of renewable energy (RE) in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin Wind Energy Zone 500 MW at an estimated cost of ₹120.09 crore scheduled to be commissioned by March, 2023,” it added.
