Pinarayai Vijayan seeks Rs 2,150 crore for Silverline project

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, requesting funding for the Silver-Line project. In the forthcoming Union budget, he recommended the Centre to allocate Rs 2,150 crore.

In his letter, the Chief Minister stated that the SilverLine project was included in the national rail plan, and that the minister had announced in Parliament in his 2021 budget address that all projects included in the national rail plan would be finished by 2030.

“This project is in line with the Government of India’s policy and will contribute immensely to the economic development of state. The project is also in line with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives aimed at increasing the production capabilities of the country as a whole,” the Chief Minister wrote.
