Leading packaging solutions company SIG, based in Switzerland, announced that it would invest 60 million Euros (about Rs. 525.98 crore) over the course of the next two years to build its first aseptic carton plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. India, the largest milk market in the world and one of the world’s top producers of juices, will host SIG’s first aseptic carton facility, the firm announced in a statement. For the packaging of liquid foods and beverages, an aseptic carton is a multilayered packaging solution created by layering paperboard, plastic, and aluminium. Businesses in the sector include Tetra and UFlex.
