At least 12 more steel mills with a 60 million tonne annual production capacity would be erected in Odisha, according to state minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik.
Odisha now has 51 steel factories with a 33.12 mtpa production capacity, the minister claims.
Sundargarh and Jajpur would each get two new steel facilities, while Angul, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Jagatsinghpur will each get one.
The operating districts for two steel firms are still up in the air.
