Under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund, Odisha has applied for approval for up to 30 road projects totaling approximately 619 kilometres (CRIF).
In a letter to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the state works department requested Rs 1269 crore to complete the 30 road projects.
According to official sources, money has been sought to upgrade significant district roads and state highways.
Every year, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways distributes cash to states and Union Territories under the CRIF programme to help them complete significant road projects.
According to reports, a cess is imposed on commuters on these highways, with the proceeds going toward road upkeep.
