NTT’s data centre business Global Data Centers & Cloud Infrastructure (NTT GDC & CI) will build a 6 lakh square foot facility at Bengal Silicon Valley (BSV) in New Town.
The BSV’s promoter, Hidco, anticipated investing Rs 890 crore in the project over the following three to five years.
NTT GDC & CI paid Rs 37 crore for a 7.5-acre land at a rate of Rs 4.9 crore per acre, according to a Hidco official.
NTT senior director (products and services, data centres) Vimal Kaw said the company would set up a regional data hub here that it had taken on long-term lease from Hidco. “Kolkata and Lucknow will be among the first regional data centres that we are putting in place,” Kaw said.
