NTPC teams up with Delhi Jal Board to convert waste into green energy

The National Thermal Power Corporation has teamed up with the Delhi Jal Board to transform sludge produced in DJB’s sewage treatment plants into green energy.

In order to decrease its carbon footprint, the Corporation has used sludge produced in the STP to fuel the torrefied waste at its unit-4 Boiler in Dadri.

This environmentally friendly technical solution is a unique technique to turn STP sludge into electricity while reducing CO2 emissions.

STPs create up to 800 metric tonnes of sludge every day in the Delhi NCR alone. The disposal of this sludge is a significant concern since it adds to pollution.
