NLC India Ltd., a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, and Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) have signed a memorandum of understanding to build 1,000 MW of solar power projects in Assam.
The MoU calls for the formation of a joint venture business with equity contributions of 51% by NLCIL and 49% by APDCL, according to a press statement. Tuesday in Dispur, K Mohan Reddy, Director (Planning and Projects), NLCIL, and R Kumar, Managing Director, APDCL, signed the Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs; Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam; and Rakesh Kumar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NLCIL.
Pralhad Joshi pointed out that the initiative would be a development opportunity for the State of Assam while simultaneously contributing to the renewable energy needs of the country.
