National High Speed Railway Corporation (NHSRCL) released a request for proposals for the construction of a 21-kilometer tunnel for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.
According to a spokesperson for the NHSRCL, the tunnel will be built between the Bandra-Kurla Complex underground station and Shilphata in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
He said bids are being sought for tunnelling work 21 kilometres down, including a 7-kilometer long submarine tunnel to be built utilising the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM).
Companies from Japan and India are eligible for the package.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor is estimated to cost Rs 1.08 lakh crore in total.
