The National Highway Logistics Management (NHLML) has issued a request for proposals for the city’s first ropeway project.

The 3.8-kilometer ropeway link between Cantonment Railway Station and Godowlia Chowk would cost Rs 461 crore to build.

Passengers would be able to travel 3.8 kilometres in 17 minutes. To guarantee that the service is delivered in less than a minute, 218 cable cars will be deployed.

Each car will feature ten seats, allowing about 4,500 passengers to travel in one direction in one hour.

The winning bidder is responsible for finishing the project in three years and maintaining and operating it for the next 15 years.
