The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to open a 227 km new alignment and greenfield link on this corridor this week, reducing travel time between Jaipur and Chandigarh by nearly four hours and reducing travel time from southern parts of Haryana such as Mahendragarh, Jind, and Narnaul to Chandigarh to barely two-three hours.
Thousands of heavy trucks that would normally pass through the region for interstate travel would be relieved by the new six-lane access restricted highway in Delhi and the remainder of the National Capital Region (NCR).
The new highway section also demonstrates how traffic from Jaipur may utilise it as a complete bypass for the whole route from Jaipur to Chandigarh and beyond.
