NHAI plans to inaugurate Chipiyana

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has set a new deadline for vehicles to be allowed to pass through the Chipiyana railway overbridge (ROB) on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The ROB is scheduled to open in April 2022, according to the amended schedule.

The NHAI opened one half of the ROB, the Hapur-Delhi segment, in August 2021. The Hapur to Delhi segment, on the other hand, is still under construction and will open in stages by April 2022.

The sheer weight of the heaviest girder, which is being carried in pieces from Ludhiana and erected at the site, poses a technical challenge for both the roads department and the Indian Railways.
