J Kumar Infraprojects was selected to build 4.262 km of Package 1 and 6.038 km of Package 4 of the 19.88 km Chennai Port – Maduravoyal Motorway project in Tamil Nadu after winning 5 km Package 2 earlier in the week.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is building a double-decker, access-controlled elevated highway across the Cooum River as part of its four-lane project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed the Bharatmala Pariyojana program’s foundation stone for it in May 2022, with an estimated cost of Rs 5,855 crore.
Chennai Port to Thousand Lights East is connected by Package 1 at distance 0.342 to mile 4.604, whereas Maduravoyal and Koyambedu are connected by Package 4 at kilometre 14.185 to km 20.223.
NHAI had invited tenders for their construction in July 2022 with a 910 day construction deadline. Technical bids were opened in April to reveal 5 and 6 bidders for each package respectively.
