- Agrawal Structure Mills is planning to take up sponge iron plant expansion project in Silpahari, Sirgitti Industrial Area, Bilaspur, Chattisgarh. The project involves expanding the existing sponge iron plant (2*200 TPD) by installation of 1 x 350 TPD DRI kilns (total production capacity 1,65,000 TPA) along with expansion of CPP (WHRB) from 4 MW to 12 MW. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.1566 million. As of January 2020, environment clearance for the project is underway.
- Aryavrata Steel is planning to take up sponge iron plant expansion project in Lohamellya, NH-6, P.O. Montipa Mohanpur, P.S. Jhargram, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. The project involves expanding the existing sponge iron plant from 36,000 TPA to 1,02,000 TPA with 7.5 MW Captive Power Plant and 23,760 TPA Billet Production. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.1300 million. As of February 2020, environment clearance for the project is underway.
- Sumrit Metaliks is planning to take up sponge iron plant modernization project in Kendujhar, Orissa. The project involves existing sponge iron plant of 100 TPD (2 X 50 TPD) sponge iron production along with 23 TPD, Dolchar and 3 TPD ESP dust, with proposed change in product mix i.e. 64 TPD reduced Magnetite iron ore and 107 TPD reduced Manganese ore
(along with dolchar) and 3 TPD ESP dust from the same kilns within the existing facility by change in raw material mix from iron ore to low grade Mn Ore associated with iron ore (25-30% Fe & 25-30% Mn). The estimated cost of the project is Rs.122.5 million. As of February 2020, environment clearance for the project is underway. - Sugna Sponge and Power is planning to take up sponge iron pant expansion project in Bhogasamudram Village, Yadiki Mandal, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The project involves expansion of sponge iron plant and captive power plant and inclusion of ferroalloys and re rolling mill. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.3650 million. As of February 2020, environment clearance for the project is underway.
- Orissa Metaliks is planning to take up new sponge iron manufacturing project in Kharagpur, Midnapur, West Bengal. The project involves manufacturing sponge iron with capacity 780000 TPA. The company has filed industrial entrepreneurs’ memorandum on December 2019. As of March 2020, the project is in planning stage.
- HAQ Steels And Metaliks is planning to take up new sponge iron manufacturing project in Samakhiali, Bhachau, Kutch, Gujarat. The project involves manufacturing of sponge iron with capacity 78000 Ton Per Year. The company has filed industrial entrepreneurs’ memorandum on November 2019. As of April 2020, the project is in planning stage.
- B.S. Sponge is planning to take up a sponge iron plant expansion project in Taraimal, Gerwani, Gharghoda, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The project involves expanding the existing plant for sponge iron plant (4X100 TPD) – 1,20,000 TPA, billets and steel ingots (2 X12 TPA and 2 X 15 TPA induction furnace) – 1,62,000 TPA, re-rolled product rolling mill – 1,05,000 TPA, power plant (WHRB -2 MW and FBC – 36 MW) – 48 MW and ferro alloy plant – 25,000 TPA. As of May 2020, the company has received consent from the state pollution control authorities to establish the project
- MGM Minerals is planning to expand its sponge iron plant located t Nimidha, Haldiabahal & Uparpal Villages, P.S. Motanga, Odapada Tehsil, Dhenkanal District, Odisha. The project involves Capacity Enhancement of existing 350 TPD , DRI kiln i.e. from 1,05,000 TPA to 1,25,000 TPA & Additional 350 TPD* DRI kiln of 1,25,000 TPA capacity, setting up a Induction furnace with CCM & LRF to produce Crude Steel / MS billets with a capacity 2,50,000 TPA, setting up a facility to produce 62,000 TPA of pig iron, Hot Metal with a capacity of 1,31,000 TPA, Rolling Mill to produce either Wire Rods or TMT bars with a capacity of 2,50,000 TPA, expanding the WHRB power plant from 16 MW to 32 MW, expanding the CFBC power plant from 16 MW to 32 MW and setting up a Pellet Plant with a capacity of 0.6 mTPA. The project is estimated to cost Rs.6820 million. On May 2020, environment clearance for the project is underway. As of September 2020, project involves expansion of existing unit by setting up 0.125 MTPA Sponge Iron Plant, 0.6 MTPA Pellet Plant, 0.25 MTPA MS Billets, 0.25 MTPA TMT & Wire Rods and 40 MW Captive Power Plant with investment of Rs.8018.9 Million. The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority has cleared the investment proposal.
- Real Ispat And Power is planning to take up new sponge iron manufacturing project in Bhatapara, Balodabazar, Chattisgarh. The project involves manufacturing of sponge iron 760000 MT and generation of power through coal based based 40 MW. The company has filed industrial entrepreneurs’ memorandum on January 2020. As of June 2020, the project is in planning stage.
