New Mega Solar Power Projects in India – 2020

  • Mahindra Renewables Private Limited (MRPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra Group cleantech arm Mahindra Susten Private Ltd (MSPL) is planning to take up new solar power project in Rajasthan. The project involves setting up 250 MW solar power unit at Bhiv ji ka gaon Village in Bap Tehsil, Jodhpur District in Rajasthan. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.12154.2 million. On January 2020, pre project activities are underway. The company has filed industrial entrepreneurs’ memorandum on February 2020. As of August 2020, the project is in planning stage.
  • Tata Power Solar Systems is planning to take up new solar power project. The project involves develop a 250MW solar project for NTPC. The project will be developed under the Centre’s Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme that mandates using domestically manufactured cells and modules for the project. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.15050 million. The completion period is 20 months. As of January 2020, company has received a Letter Of Award (LOA) from NTPC for the project.
  • Aditya Birla Renewables is planning to take up new power generation project in Gare Palma Mines, Hindalco, Raigarh, Chattisgarh. The project involves setting up electric power generation using solar energy with capacity 3000 MW. The company has filed industrial entrepreneurs’ memorandum on December 2019. As of March 2020, the project is in planning stage.
  • Bharat Heavy Electricals is planning to take up new solar power project in Ramagundam, Peddapeli, Telangana. The project involves setting up a 100 MW AC floating solar project for the National Thermal Power Corporation. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.2610 million. As of February 2020, company has issued a notice inviting tender for contractors.
  • Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company and NTPC are planning to take up new solar park in Nokh, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The project involves development of solar park with capacity 925 MW. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.39500 million. As of February 2020, RSDCL signed agreement with NTPC for the project.
  • Avaada Non-Conventional Upproject is planning to take up new solar power generation project in Deori, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. The project involves generation of solar power with capacity 100 MW. The company has filed industrial entrepreneurs’ memorandum on December 2019. As of March 2020, the project is in planning stage.
  • Ayana Kadapa Renewable Power is planning to take up new solar PV power plant in Mylavaram, Cuddapah, Andhra Pradesh. The project involves establishment of solar PV power plant with capacity 250 MW. The company has filed industrial entrepreneurs’ memorandum on January 2020. As of June 2020, the project is in planning stage.
  • Solar Energy Corporation of India is planning to set up new solar PV power project in Rajasthan. The project involves setting up 1,070 MW grid-connected solar PV power projects in Rajasthan (Tranche-III). As of July 2020, company has invited bids for selection of solar power developers.
  • NHPC and Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Ltd has committed to developing 500 MW of floating solar projects on reservoirs in the state of Odisha. The projects will be developed in phases, each requiring some 18 months to complete. The first phase is likely to start by March 2022. As of July 2020, NHPC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with public utility Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Ltd under the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks (UMREPPs) Scheme of India’s ministry of new and renewable energy
