By December of this year, the state-of-the-art cargo terminal at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna city should be completed, opening the way for quick commercial cargo transit via the airline. The building is anticipated to grow the sector and improve access to local markets.
The two-story building’s construction has been finished to a degree of about 90%. When compared to the current freight complex, the new facility will be four times larger. The new cargo building will cover an area of 15,000 square feet, compared to the old cargo block’s size of approximately 3,600 square feet.
“Laced with the latest technology and equipment, the G+2 cargo terminal will be operational at the airport by March 2023,” an Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said.
“The facility will have cold room, reefer van, weighing scale, x-ray machines, door frame metal detectors, scissors lift, pallets, trolleys and high-security apparatus. The building will be equipped with the closed-circuit television cameras for 24×7 monitoring,” he added.
