The Mumbai coastline road, which is now under construction, is scheduled to open to traffic by December 2023 with 57% of the project’s overall work completed and substantial progress made on the project’s challenging tunnelling component.
When phase one of the massive 10.58-km coastal road project is finished, the city will get an 8.5-km sea promenade that is 20 metres wide between Priyadarshini Park at Napean Sea Road and the Worli side of the Bandra Worli Sea Link. To facilitate the suburban commute to and from South Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is constructing the first phase of the coastal route at an estimated cost of Rs 12,500 crore.
The project is to be constructed in two phases. The second phase involves connecting Bandra Sea Link to Kandivali Junction. Work on this stretch is yet to commence.
