Mumbai Coastal road reaches halfway milestone

As the year draws to a close, the massive Coastal Road project, which has been dogged by controversy from its inception, is nearly half-complete. The project will alter Mumbai’s western shoreline, for better or worse.

On the southern end of the enormous infrastructure link, which will run nearly 10 kilometres from Marine Drive to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the consequences can already be seen.

The iconic sweep of Marine Drive is undergoing its most radical change since the Princess Street flyover was built in 1964, more than a century after it was built.
